Yacht for sale is a 2008 SOUTHERN WIND SHIPYARDS 99' 1" "ACAIA FOUR" SW100 DS Sloop in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
Designed and built for blue water sailing, ACAIA FOUR is a high-performance yet comfortable yacht andthe 6th of one the most popular mini series produced by the shipyard to date: the Southern Wind 100DS (SW100 DS). The yacht carries the prestigious signature of Farr Yacht Design who are responsiblefor the hull lines, appendages and sail plan, whereas Nauta Design worked on the general concept, interior and exterior styling. The blue water vocation of the SW 100 DS is in the DNA of all Southern Wind boats. This is reflected inthe fact that most of the yachts completes a maiden Atlantic voyage of more than 7,000 miles on theirown bottom from South Africa to Europe following delivery in Cape Town. The yacht’s performance andresponsive helm are marks of an authentic cruiser-racer and are the result of the efficient hull lines, powerful 424 sq. meter sail plan and displacement of just above 59 tons. The choice of materials and construction methods have led to considerable weight savings: the infusionlaminated hull and deck of the SW 100 DS are made of carbon fibre/Kevlar sandwich from afemale mould with an epoxy resin and Corecell- Klegcell core.ACAIA FOUR is characterised by her uncluttered deck and a deckhouse that integrates perfectly with therest of the yacht. Nauta Design came up with a solution that provides for a large window area and thecurvature of the superstructure has been shifted amidships. This means that the harmonious hull linesare not spoilt by an imposing deckhouse and allows for good head height in the dinette. The deck layout with its 41 metre carbon mast and park avenue boom reflects the interior concept withgood separation between the working area aft and guest relaxation area amidships. The aft cockpit isdedicated to sailing and manouvring the boat and houses the primary genoa and mainsail winches andtwin carbon fibre helm wheels. The long main traveller separates the cockpit from the guest area, whichis flanked by two adjustable tables and a spacious sundeck. Moving forward, the ample 6.7 metre beamprovides for wide companionways along the either side of the deckhouse as far as the mast step, whereas the teak foredeck is flush with in-line deck hatches.ACAIA FOUR interior layout is classic Southern Wind with the crew quarters aft located, which is made of2 identical cabins and well equipped galley with a large table useful for service and for crew dining, separate chart area and complete toilet with 2 separate WC. The guests’ - with two twin cabins withseparate beds, one VIP cabin with queen bed and the master’s areas are respectively amidships andforward located. ACAIA FOUR has been built following requirements of the owner thus floorboard havebeen lowered while ceiling raised giving to her interiors much volume. An area of great importance and pride for Southern Wind is the engine room: they never skimp onengine room space as functionality and accessibility are all-important. ACAIA FOURl is powered by aCummins 305 hp engine and is equipped with all the necessary equipment for long-range oceancruising. It is, in short, a yacht conceived and constructed by people who sail for people who sail.
